Old Mill further strengthens its support of local food and drink producers by sponsoring eat:Festivals
26 March 2018
Accountants and financial planners Old Mill is supporting local producers across Somerset through sponsoring the eat:Festivals.
eat:Festivals, are non-profit, locally focussed one-day events held in town centres across Somerset and North Somerset, and Old Mill will sponsor the ‘Best in Show’ award.
The festivals are free for the food and drink producers to attend, which means the money they receive in takings from each event goes straight back into their businesses.
Phil Mills, Associate Director in the Food and Drink team at Old Mill said: “We are really passionate about supporting food and drink producers and in 2016, launched our food and drink team to offer specialist business advice to food and drink businesses in the region.
“Part of our commitment to our clients is to offer a strong support network so that they can benefit not only from what we as a business can offer but also through the help and support of other organisations across the food and drink supply chain in the region.
“We have already committed to sponsoring Taste of the West as their Title Sponsor, and now we are supporting the eat:Festivals.
“Small, independent, local producers often find it hard to justify the cost of exhibiting at a big event, which is why the eat:Festivals events are perfect. They are free to attend, offering a fantastic way for these small producers to showcase their products and build relationships with other businesses and organisations in the sector.”
Bev Milner Simonds is co-founder of eat:Festivals and says the support of sector leaders like Old Mill in developing and sponsoring eat:Festivals is invaluable.
“We look for commercial partners who have strong value and ethical alignment to us – and a hunger for food and drink! Old Mill deliver on that all round and we are looking forward to a great first year working together, using our combined skills to grow and develop both businesses.”
The eat:Festivals are popular with visitors as they bring a fantastic range of producers and products into the town, while also providing entertainment to enjoy, including chefs on stage doing demonstrations, as well as lots of competitions to take part in with great local food and drink prizes.
The first of the events will take place on Saturday, April 7th in Weston.
The others are as follows:
eat: Weston-super-Mare – Saturday 7 April
eat: Taunton – Saturday 12 May
eat: Burnham – Saturday 26 May
eat: Portishead – Saturday 11 August
eat: Wellington – Saturday 1 September
eat: Weston-super-Mare – Saturday 22 September
eat: Burnham – Saturday 27 October
Phil concludes: “We can advise on a wide range of matters from starting up a food and drink business, supporting and advising on funding applications, to helping to simplify accounting, understanding VAT and assisting with planning opportunities as well as research and development and tax claims. Please come and see us at one of the events and see how we can help your business.”
