Wayne's top 6 Food & Drink must-haves this Christmas!

10 December 2018

Christmas is the perfect time of year to sample lots of fine foods, rich new recipes and traditional favourites.

This year, I have done a bit of ‘festive revision’ to sample some of the best food and drink products on the menu in the South West, and these are some of my top must-haves for the Christmas dinner table…

The Bay Tree Christmas Range

With a strap line of “making the ordinary extraordinary”, these classy Christmas packs are sure to add a little extra something to your festive season. Emma Macdonald launched the brand from her kitchen after travelling around the world and has managed to maintain that homemade taste throughout her expansion.

Sandford Orchards – Mid Winter Spice (mulled cider)

Having won the Supreme Champion Product at the Taste of the West Awards 2018, Sandford Orchards has been going from strength to strength. Their latest edition of great products takes the form of a mulled cider infused with orange peel and a unique blend of mulling spices. Treat yourself to a glass of warm cider whilst sitting around the fire this Christmas.

Conker Gin – Cold Brew Coffee Liqueur

After working their way through 96 different recipes, Conker Gin have created a complex, dark and fruity brew that celebrates espresso and owns the glass. Containing the highest quality coffee beans, this liquor is fantastic cold, with just a touch of demerara sugar. This will make for a great gift or something a little different when arising on Boxing Day this year.

Georgie Porgie’s Puddings – Christmas puddings

George has been producing the highest quality puddings for years, so no Christmas list would be complete without them. His puddings are made from the highest quality ingredients which give a delightful “melt in your mouth” texture that will leave you craving more. He has a diverse customer list including The Queen and The Prince of Wales!

Dorset Blue Vinney – Blue Vinny Cheese

Mike Davies has spent the last 40 years perfecting his recipe for Blue Vinney Cheese which is why it should take pole position on your dinner table this Christmas. In September, he was honoured with a lifetime achievement award at the Dorset Food, Drink and Farming Awards for his contribution to the industry. Why not enjoy this creamy / crumbly delight with chutney and a glass of port!

Hillside Foods – Pink Peppercorn Biscuits

Having won the gold award from Taste of the West in 2015, this unique biscuit is infused with pink peppercorns to add natural sweetness and a mellow peppery kick. Great with Pâté or a Red Onion and Thyme Marmalade, this product is bound to keep you warm this Christmas. Being one of the most moreish products on the market, I dare you to only eat one!
